Kanda Poha Recipie | How to make Kanda Poha Recipe Step by Step

Ever wonder why every Maharashtrian house you visit will offer Poha ?

And what makes this recipie so delicious that you can eat it anytime and anywhere ?

So basically being a Mumbaikar Poha has all my heart. This mouth watery dish fills my belly with no guilt and refreshes my mood and maintain my physique . Whenever I feel lazy to cook for myself  (obviously when I am famished too) , I end up making Poha for me as it fills my hunger and give me my required carbs and protein . So before you get bored reading this post.

Let's quickly dive into the ingredients list :

Poha 1 cup (flattened rice )

Roasted Peanuts 1/4 cup

Onions 1 big size

Potato 1 small

Green chillies ( hari mirch) 5 based on your spiciness you can add or subtract

Mustard seeds (Rai) 1 pinch

Cumins ( zeera ) 1 pinch

Curry leaves (kadipatta) 3 leaves

Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

Salt 1 teaspoon

Oil 3 teaspoons

Method :

So you can use pan or any utensil for making this recipie as it's supereasy and just done in minutes . I usually make it in my small Kadai,

First you have to add oil and heat it . After that put mustard seeds along with chillies so that it spiciness gets spread into it. Along with them you have to add curry leaves now keep the flame low so that leaves does not get burnt directly ,

instead its flavour dissolves slowly into the oil ,

Now it's Onion time ; chop the onion properly and put it in the oil now fry it till it becomes little translucent after that chop the potatoes in small cubes add in it and with desired salt and turmeric fry them properly with our roasted Peanuts once done ; wash our poha Rice and mix it properly with 2-3 teaspoons of water not more than that and cover it with lid let them cook for a minute . Vola ! My lovely Poha is ready.

PS : Drizzle half cut lemon it enhances your tastebuds ;)

Tips for Perfect Poha Recipe:

  1. Choosing Poha: Use thick poha for this recipe. Rinse it lightly with water before cooking to soften it.

  1. Sautéing Potatoes:  Cook potatoes first in oil with mustard seeds and curry leaves until soft before adding onions and other spices. This ensures they're well-cooked.

  1. Spices and Seasoning: Don’t skip mustard seeds and curry leaves for authentic flavor. Toast them well to release their aroma before adding other ingredients.

  1. Add Peanuts: For peanuts, roast them separately in the pan before adding the onions. This adds a nice crunch and flavor.

  1. Adjusting Texture: If your poha seems too dry, sprinkle a few drops of water and cover it for a minute to steam. This helps achieve the right texture.

  1. Finishing Touches: Once done, add fresh lemon juice and chopped coriander for brightness and freshness.

  1. Serve Warm: Poha is best served warm, so enjoy it right after cooking.
