You’ll find fried chicken at weddings, functions, and even small gatherings. It’s not just one of the most popular starters in the world; it’s also one of my all-time favorite foods. On my cheat days, I can’t resist whipping it up!
I may come off as a fried chicken enthusiast, but it’s really my own recipe that captures my heart. Once you try it my way, you might just skip KFC entirely because this spicy fried chicken will blow your mind and leave your taste buds longing for more. Trust me: once you taste this recipe, you won’t want fried chicken any other way!
Ingredients List:
500g chicken, cut into pieces
3 tsp red chili powder
½ tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp aamchur powder (dried mango powder)
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1½ tsp salt
Oil (for frying)
Steps to Make Fried Chicken Starter:
Prep the Chicken: Start by washing and cleaning the chicken thoroughly, then cut it into pieces according to your preference. I usually opt for medium-sized chunks.
Marinate: In a bowl, combine all the spices and salt. Coat the chicken pieces well and let them marinate for at least 2 hours. This step is crucial for infusing the flavors deeply into the meat.
- Fry: Once marinated, heat oil in a pan for shallow frying. Cook the chicken pieces until they are golden brown and cooked through, ensuring a crispy exterior.
Tips for the Perfect Fried Chicken Recipe:
Use Exact Measurements: Following the listed ingredients with precise amounts is key to achieving excellent taste. However, feel free to adjust the spice levels according to your personal preference for heat.
Prioritize Marination Time: Marination is essential for flavor and tenderness. After mixing the spices with the chicken, let it marinate for at least 2 hours. The longer you marinate, the softer the chicken becomes, allowing the spices to infuse more deeply.
Master the Frying Technique: The frying method is crucial. Ensure the oil is heated properly before adding the chicken; if the oil isn’t hot enough, it can seep into the chicken and compromise the flavor.
Shallow Frying: After heating the oil, reduce the flame to low before adding the chicken. Remember, we’re shallow frying, not deep frying. Cover the pan with a lid and let the chicken cook for 1 to 2 minutes on one side. Then, flip it and cook for another 2 minutes on low heat.
This technique will help achieve a crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy and tender.
Note : You can use Lemon instead of aamchur powder.
